I love Japanese transparent umbrellas. One of the things I like the most about their design is that you can see through them; something very useful if you are in a rush, walking towards the wind and you have to tip the umbrella so you don’t get wet.

Hasn’t it happened to you sometimes that with a normal umbrella you have to tilt it up to see where you are walking to? If you are riding a bicycle, as you go faster than walking, it’s almost indispensable to use a transparent umbrella if you don’t want to ride blindly Here is a demonstration video:

It’s every young lady’s dream: to leave a life of looking somewhat plain and become a glamorous hostess, all cleavage-y evening dresses and bleach-blond hair, charming lonely salarymen into buying obscenely overpriced drinks. Who wouldn’t want a taste of that life?!

Well, now you too can see what it’s like, because Yakuza 4‘s western release is confirmed to have the hostess training minigame included in the final product.

But wait, didn’t Sega say that it was essentially impossible for us to understand hostess bars? That’s the reason they gave for cutting them out of Yakuza 3, after all. Is Sega confident that we filthy foreigners will have evolved the capacity to comprehend that content by spring 2011?

Or perhaps it’s because the bars aren’t being cut this time because they’re key to one of the lead character’s story arcs, making a clean excision impossible? Hmmm.

Either way, we seem to be getting to a more complete product this time! Yay! Now check below for a video of a veteran hostess training a pair of real-life girls as they audition to become in-game hostesses. Really.

Here’s an interesting commercial by Nissin whereby you get to see Jay Kay from the British band Jamiroquai singing a modified version of their hit song “Virtual Insanity” and halfway switching to singing about the yummy cup noodles ^^.
I feel old knowing that I was groovin to the beats of “Virtual Insanity” more than 10 years ago.
