A ball-jointed doll is any doll that is articulated with ball and socket joints. In contemporary usage when referring to modern dolls, and particularly when using the acronyms BJD or ABJD, it usually refers to modern Asian ball-jointed dolls (via Wikipedia).

Below a beautiful collection of dolls’ pictures. Most of them look so alive that I am almost scared.

Kuttsukiboshi

Primastea, the independent company that released two consecutive sleeper hits with the Isshoni Training: Training with Hinako exercise anime and the Isshoni Sleeping: Sleeping with Hinako anime, is shipping its third anime DVD on August 16. Freelance animator Naoya Ishikawa (Docchimo Maid, Binchō-tan) directed, wrote, and animated Kuttsukiboshi (Part I) entirely himself. The anime centers around two girls’ “risky” summer vacation together.

Shunsuke Morita composed the music, and Dax Production handled the soundtrack. The cast is still being selected. Before Part I’s official release, Primastea will offer the DVD early at its Comic Market 78 booth at Tokyo Big Sight from August 13 to August 15. Part II will be released next summer.

Primastea is hosting a 83-second trailer on its official channel on the YouTube website.

Naru Narusegawa

Image via Wikipedia

So I just got done reading an excellent post by Adun over at Moe Moe Rabu about his 10 Otaku Dreams, in which he lists them in what I assume to be numerical (but maybe random) order.  His post inspired me so much that I decided to make out my own list of otaku dreams (though mine aren’t as moe as his).

It should be noted that if I were to just go off the top of my head, my list would look something like this…

  • Sleep with Faye Valentine…
  • Sleep with Asahina Mikuru…
  • Sleep with both Naru Narusegawa and Mutsumi Otohime at the same time…

You get the idea.  But since this is a family(?) weblog, and since even if it wasn’t I don’t do good with NSFW posts, I have to set some rules:

  • No sex fantasies
  • Otherwise, keep it clean.

That’s about it.  Besides, wouldn’t having sex dreams be kinda… well boring?  I mean, as red blooded American males, and especially those of us who are the otaku variety, wouldn’t sex just be part of our thoughts anyway?  Why not use our creative imaginations to point out some of the lesser heard fantasies?

That said, here’s my top 10 Otaku Dreams:

  1. Go hunting bounties with Spike Spiegel and Jet BlackObviously I mean before Spike was killed.  Notice that I didn’t include Faye, even though I did imply that I’d like to do more than hunt bounties with her.  But to be honest, her attitude kinda ticks me off; until she get’s all sweet and that ticks me off even more because I know I shouldn’t be ticked off at her… welcome to The Otakuologist’s world of paradox, folks!
  2. Be the one normal person to hang out with KyonPity poor Kyon… stuck in a world not of his own making with a neurotic teenaged possible deity for a classmate.  Does anyone else care that he’s stuck with a nickname he hates, along with fellow SOS Brigade members who apparently are on higher levels than him… Why did Haruhi make him a low rung member when he practically co-founded the brigade?  I tell you… he needs somebody normal to talk to.  And while I’m not always the most socially skilled conversationalist, I’m not a time traveller… or an alien… or an esper…
  3. Stomp a mudhole in Ito MakotoSeriously… that dude really pissed me off.  Now, I’m no angel and I have no problem with being a player.  But this a**hole caused one girl to go way off the deep end mentally and indirectly caused the death of another.  Keep in mind that I’m talking about the anime, not the game version of the story.  There are many players who admit they’re players, even to the women they’re playing.  This f***er is not one of them.  What a douche.
  4. Drive the Mach 5This one goes way back, to like, when I was five.  When I was a child, two of my favorite things to do was to watch Speed Racer on TV and set up our kitchen chairs like a race car on the floor and pretend I was driving the Mach 5, much to my mom’s consternation.  Whenever we went to the store I’d beg my mom to buy me a Mach 5 Hot Wheels miniature.  On the few times she could afford to do so the conversation would go something like this… Her: “What kind of car do you want, baby?”Me: “A Mark 5! I want a Mark 5! (yes I pronounced it “Mark.” Shaddap.)Her: “Here you go…”Me: “That ain’t no Mark 5!”

Her: “What do you mean? It looks just like it!

Me: “It’s green!I never stopped wanting to drive that car. Even when the movie came out. Especially when the movie came out.

  5. Show anyone on Dragon Ball Z how long a fight should takeSeriously, man… It takes ‘em like three weeks for somebody to throw a friggin’ punch!
  6. Take a ride on the Galaxy Express 999To me, riding on a train designed to travel the stars would not only evoke memories of my childhood in Philadelphia when I would ride the train to New York but also bring out a sense of wonder at seeing entirely new planets and new life forms.
  7. Save Urashima Keitaro from being punched by Narusegawa at least oncePoor Keitaro. Sure, Naru Narusegawa is hot, but does he have to let her send him into orbit every time? I mean really. I get so mad watching that show sometimes. Mad at her for punching him skyward every time her schizophrenia tells her that Keitaro is being perverted, and mad at him for not ducking at least once. Just once, I’d like to take his place just so he knows just once… what it’s like to not be beat up by a girl.
  8. Become magically transformed into an anime characterAny character really. As long as I’m human. Or humanoid. And handsome. With the ability to shout really loud and make the sky catch fire behind me and destroy my enemies.
  9. Be a character in Star Trek, the original seriesYes, the original series. Kirk may have been ego on a stick, but he was a badass so his ego was justified. Besides, who wouldn’t want to serve under the biggest man whore in the universe? Kirk has screwed so many women, I’m probably one of his grandkids.
  10. Own a persocomPersocoms, if you didn’t know, are human shaped personal computers designed to serve their human masters. And no, perverts, I’m not breaking my own rules. I’d just use it for going online and stuff.

Those are my top ten otaku fantasies.  I’d love to know what yours are.  Feel free to leave your answers in the comments section

kudo-birthday-001.jpg

Little Busters heroine Noumi Kudryavka’s (“Kudo”) birthday fell recently, prompting the usual otaku devotions, at its most savoury involving cake and shrines – the unsavoury parts otaku thankfully choose to keep to themselves.

Exiting!

Their excited state is probably only partly explained by creepy lolicon enthusiasm – as well as that, the imminent release of her own spin-off eroge “Kudo Wafter” on the 25th of June seems to be stoking the fires of their enthusiasm.
